"Small Town, Big Hockey"

Princeton is nestled in the foothill of the Cascade Mountains at the junction of the Tulameen and Similkameen Rivers.  Our town of 2500 people is roughly located 3 hours drive time due east of Vancouver, 1 hour west of Penticton, and under 2 hours from Kamloops and Kelowna.  The "Posse" fan base is among the largest, loudest, and most loyal in the KIJHL!

Mission Statement

Our mission is to be recognized across western Canada as a model program and the flagship for Jr. B hockey.

Program Goals:

Develop young men to aspire to their hockey and life goals.
Ensure we are financially sound.
Create a legacy through player development.
Enhance the community “lifestyle” by offering a “sports night out” and a team to be identified with.
Our team will be role models for the youth of Princeton.
Marketing opportunity for local businesses.

League Information

The KIJHL is entering its 40th season of operation and is the premiere JR. B  in western Canada.  The majority of the franchises in the "KI" are the focal point of sports in their respective areas and are a strong part of the fabric of their communities.  The "KI" has 15 teams (3 divisions) that play an interlocking 52 game schedule.

Development Ice Time

The Posse have access to virtually unlimited amounts of ice time, when you include that we practice everyday, work on ice with the local minor hockey, participate in the occasional adult rec. game and/or attend available afternoon and weekend drop in ice.  The players even have the unique opportunity to skate on outdoor rink ice, which is rare in many of the communities the players have come from!

Transportation:

All transportation to away games is contracted out to a fully licensed charter company. The hockey club covers all pre-game and post game meals as well as accommodations on road trips.

Player / Team Affiliations

Many of the BCHL clubs shall be using a "19 man roving affiliation" when it comes to using their prospects.  Our club had AP players with multiple BCHL and WHL programs in 05/06.  Driving time to 8 BCHL clubs and 3 WHL clubs ranges from 45 minutes to well under 3 hrs.  This will maximize the opportunity for player evaluations as well as "AP" practice and game time.

Off Ice Training

Players will have a schedule and program for off ice training and conditioning.  We will use the "Princeton Athletic Club" as our team fitness center.

Equipment:

Players will be provided with helmets, visors, gloves as well as jerseys and socks. The team will do skate sharpening and make equipment repairs where possible.

Employment or Education Policy

It is imperative that the athletes remain active and focused in their daily routines in becoming better players and citizens in the community.  Players shall be required to have a job, attend high school, or take post secondary education classes during the hockey season.  Our practice and game schedule has been designed to maximize the opportunity to rarely miss anytime in the classroom or at their place of employment.  The "Posse" organization shall put forth a very strong effort to assist any athlete looking for employment in its community.

Player Fees

As with all the the Jr. "B" programs in the province, the Princeton Posse require the players to pay a "players' fee" to participate in the organization.  These fees go towards offsetting the expenses of operating the franchise such as ice time, BCAHA fees, team travel, road meals, fitness center monthly passes and team apparel.  Player fee for 06/07 season will be $125 per month.

Billets Fees:

Various "host families" are excited at the opportunity to become a billet home for the players of the Posse. We will try to place teh athletes with compatible families to ensure a good home environment for both the athlete and the host.  Many players become quite involved with their "new Homes" and will forge ties of friendship extending well after their playing days with the Posse.  Billet fees for the 06/07 season are $400 per month.

A deposit of $100 us also required at time of signing to cover any extraordinary expenses that may be incurred by the billeting family or the team.  This will be refunded within 30 days of the end of the season.

Many players and parents have found expense of Jr. B player fees to be much lower than the fees and fundraising required at the minor hockey levels!
